TOMB OF RUDOLF NUREYEV, PARIS ~ DETAIL~ One of the most celebrated ballet dancers of the 20th century, defected from the Soviet Union at age 23, died in 1993 in Paris, buried in the Orthodox Russian cemetery in Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois near Paris. His tomb is covered with a mosaic rug designed by artist Ezio Frigerio, made of mosaic tiles of shades of red, blue and gold. It is magnificently draped over his grave.
