The 320-foot Vernal Fall is the first of two waterfalls on the Mist Trail in Yosemite. After finding Yosemite's other famous waterfalls dried up, we gladly endured temperatures approaching 40 degrees and a 2000-foot elevation gain to hike to the top of both Vernal and Nevada Falls. The hike ended up taking most of the day but the scenery was spectacular. Discovered by Mary Hill at Yosemite National Park, Mariposa County, California
