Rice tastes much better when cooked in thick cast iron cookware than using mediocre rice cooker. Mediocre rice cooker just doesn't give enough heat calories. It is very important to let the rice absorb water for 1hr or so before you start cooking. If you start cooking right away, texture of rice will be harder.
